I forgot to add ~3k in interest generated by Treasury Direct I-Bonds in 2024. Should I amend and pay the taxes now, or wait to see if this ever gets back to me? What’s the likelihood that the IRS gets back to me? Marginal tax rate for that year was 35%. Congrats on starting this site!

Amend, but confirm the interest was actually taxable in 2024. I bond interest is typically deferred by default, so it's only taxable for 2024 if you redeemed bonds that year, or had elected to report interest annually. You can check TreasuryDirect for a 2024 1099-INT. If it was taxable, file the 1040-X and pay now. A CP2000 notice can arrive a 1 or 2 years after filing, so it's not uncommon that you haven't received it yet. Filing and paying now stops further interest from accruing.
