Sloppy Corey Bechtel is as his name implies and so much more! As other reviewers have noted, getting in contact with him is difficult. He ignores phone calls and emails at will. He did not do our taxes on time, and we did not find out that he had filed an extension until a few days after I emailed him to ask the status of our taxes. His work is sloppy: he misspelled my name several times, submitted an incorrect address on our taxes, did not submit all the necessary documents to the state, and was disinterested in helping when I came to him with a problem due to his filing error (he basically said someone had to wait for hours on the phone with the tax office, and it was not going to be him or any of his staff). I am still waiting for a sizable tax return as I write this in September. The return was stuck in the tax system because of Sloppy Corey’s sloppy work (detailed below). When I notified him about it, he simply blamed Taylor and demanded prompt payment in full. He refused any conversation about price negotiation, even though his sloppy work cost me money (the large return would have been in the stock market since the end of April had he not been sloppy). His office staff was no better. Herman did not return my call, and Barbara was unsympathetic at best. I recommend that if you are looking for an accountant, keep looking! Sloppy Corey and his office have set the bar so low that just about anyone will be better!
